The majority of the sites I design tend to be very basic and free of any bells and whistiles. Some find this to be too simple for their taste and need more things to pop out at them. I understand this logic, but find the streamlined and clean look to be much easier to navigate, and prompts people to want to visit a site more often. To up the ante a little on the basic design, I usually integrate a javascript or flash feature (or sometimes a whole group of them) depending on a client's needs. This is especially important when creating a photography gallery, as the navigation of images is high on the list of priorities. In addition to the sites I built from the ground up, I have also included updates where I improved on a previous design, and a selection of wordpress blogs that I customized to client's tastes.
